Coinciding with the announcement of an Outdoor Learning Plan for NYC schools made by Mayor Bill de Blasio, Urban Upbound is looking for ways to best support families with school-aged children in our community.

Earlier this week, the Urban Upbound Jobs-Plus team at East Harlem gave away free backpacks during an event that followed strict social-distancing guidelines. In addition to everyone wearing a mask, families confirmed in advance a time and the number of backpacks they would pick up, allowing us to limit the number of people present at the same time.

At the event, 20 children from neighborhood public housing developments received a backpack that contained a variety of school supplies and new everyday essentials such as masks. More events are planned, to continue providing essential supplies and services to our members.

Head over to our Relief and Recovery website to see what we have accomplished and how we are supporting. Your donation today directly helps the communities most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic!
