Vanessa David, a Queensbridge resident, is a long-term Urban Upbound member. She brought her expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to form OnPoint Security, a firm incubated by Urban Upbound’s Worker Cooperative Initiative. Urban Upbound has supported OnPoint Security in various aspects of its business development, including marketing, strategic planning, and back-office support. Throughout the crisis, we have helped them navigate the opportunities available for small businesses like them.

Since its inception in 2015, OnPoint Security has signed a few contracts with established businesses and organizations in the LIC community. Unfortunately, during this pandemic, many of their contracts are on freeze because their clients are either closed or reducing their operating hours.

Despite what is happening, Vanessa is still working to fulfill her life’s calling of helping people. She is not one to sit idle at home, especially during this time when her help is needed the most. Vanessa currently works in the front line to help ensure the safety and security of businesses deemed essential by the government. Like many other essential workers, her health condition is monitored and her body temperature is checked every day.

Vanessa wants to let you know that you are not alone in this fight against the Coronavirus. Everyone who is capable is doing their part in this battle. “There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel,” as she’d like to put it.

While she and other essential workers have to work outside of their homes to help fight this pandemic, everyone can contribute in the ways that they are able to. If you are fortunate, please consider a small donation and click this link to help the members of our community during the COVID-19 crisis.
